SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) - The classiest and screwiest classic screwball comedy of all time! Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon), a couple of down-on-their-luck musicians, witness a gangland massacre perpetrated by crime lord Spats Columbo (George Raft) and have to get out of town fast. Disguising themselves as women, Joe (now Josephine) and Jerry (now Daphne) seek refuge with an all-girl band fronted by torch singer Sugar Kane Kowalczyk (Marilyn Monroe). Off they go to Florida with the Mob in full pursuit! Hilarity and mayhem ensue as "Josephine" attempts to woo Sugar and "Daphne" is wooed by millionaire Osgood Fielding III (Joe E. Brown). Inspired casting, sparkling dialogue, and a mesmerizing performance by an incredibly voluptuous Marilyn Monroe ensured that Billy Wilder won the Oscar for Best Director that year. Tony Curtis won Best Actor in a Leading Role. [more...]

MAD MAX (1979) - Policeman Max Rockatowsky (Mel Gibson) attempts to bring law and order to a dystopian future Australia where society is crumbling, oil is scarce, and motorcycle gangs rule the highways. Max's personal world is destroyed when his wife and child are murdered and vengeance becomes his only option. Mel Gibson delivers an exhilarating performance as the tragic, flawed hero and his menacing presence dominates the film. This independent Australian film was George Miller's directorial debut and was the movie that launched Mel Gibson's career. It also was a very early contender in the post-apocalyptic film genre - a genre that continues to build momentum well into the 21st century. In this current age of blue-screen shots and digital explosions, it's refreshing to note that all the stunts and destruction on the screen are real. The cars and motorcycles actually crash and things actually explode! [more...]

MADEA ON THE RUN - Madea is at it again in Tyler Perry’s most outrageously funny stage play ever. In trouble with the local authorities, Mabel Simmons, notoriously known as Madea, is on the run from the law. Starring Tyler Perry as Madea, the show delivers two full hours of pure joy and laughter with brand new finger-snapping inspirational music written by Tyler Perry. Madea’s life lessons on friendship, marriage, personal reflection, and overcoming adversity leave audiences with some great food for the soul. Don’t miss this show!

MERLE HAGGARD - As one of country music's greatest living singer-songwriters, Merle Haggard was an architect of the Bakersfield sound - an earthy, California-born style more firmly rooted in country's traditions than most of the slickness produced in Nashville. Don't miss your chance to see a living music legend... LIVE at the Paramount!
